KPM Berlin Plate with Flower Bouquet, Neuglatt Form, Gold Rays and Purple Scrolls Porcelain, polychrome painted and gilt, glazed. Plate by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin, Neuglatt form, with a plain, shaped and scalloped rim and a gold edge. On the rim an encircling wreath of fine gold rays, between them purple rocaille decoration and small flowering sprays. In the well a bouquet of one large purple-red blossom together with pink and greyish violet blossoms with green foliage. On the base the underglaze blue sceptre mark and the red orb above KPM, beneath it a painter's signature and the number 9/50. A hanger is glued to the reverse. Good condition. D. 25.5 cm. The form was designed by Friedrich Elias Meyer the Elder in the years after 1765; its plain, unarticulated rim forms the counterpart to the relief forms of the manufactory and places the painting in the foreground. A service of this form was made in 1770/72 for Frederick II and Charlottenburg Palace. Hand-painted KPM pieces bear the mark of the executing painter on the foot ring.
