Two flat cardboard boxes with lift-off lids and colour-lithographed labels: set no. 50 with the earlier yellow-ground label Walther's Metallbaukasten Stabil, Fuer kleine Ingenieure und Maschinenbauer and the address Berlin S.O.33, set no. 50a with the later red and black label with crane and aeroplane motif, signed Kellner in the image, and the address Berlin SO 36. Inside blue compartment trays with rich contents: perforated strips and plates, angle girders, brass pulleys, gear wheels, cord reels and winding drums for the crane cord with labels Stabil 50 Walther and Stabil 50 A Walther, axles, hooks and small parts. Included are the instruction book for sets nos. 49 to 52 and a period advertising leaflet for the Record wooden construction set with price list. Age-related used condition, lids rubbed and stained, label of set 50a with paper losses, some metal parts with traces of rust. Completeness not checked. Please inspect. Large box 38x19x3.5 cm, small box 33.5x17x3.5 cm. From 1904 Walther & Co. of Berlin made the first German metal construction set, from about 1911 under the Stabil brand. The address on the labels allows a dating: Berlin S.O.33 changed to SO 36 around 1927/28, so basic set no. 50 dates from the 1920s and supplementary set no. 50a from after that. Production ended in 1970.
