Jahrhundert. Vollständig: Titel [3], 229, [1] S. Text sauber und hell. Insgesamt sehr guter Zustand. Während des langen Moreanischen Krieges veröffentlichte der französische Geistliche Richard Simon, der Jahre in der Levante verbracht hatte, diesen detaillierten Bericht über die Völker der Region. Er analysiert die volkstümlichen Traditionen und religiösen Zeremonien der Griechen, Orthodoxen und Katholiken, Armenier, Türken und anderer. Die erste Auflage erschien 1684. Solche Berichte waren bei Europäern beliebt, die darauf bedacht waren, die Lebensumstände der vom Krieg verwüsteten Völker zu verstehen. Später wurden sie sehr selten, da sie jahrhundertelang vernachlässigt worden waren, bis die moderne Wissenschaft ihren Wert als Quellen zur Sozial- und Volkskultur wiederentdeckte.
