Karaffine with a motto Karaffine with motto Silesia, 1742/45 Bottle made of grey-tinged, peeled glass. On the cross-sectional rectangular wall with bevelled corners, the decoration is cut: on the broadsides, a Prussian eagle flying towards the sun with the inscription ''Ce que je souhaitte est de vin'', on the reverse a fitting ornament with flower arrangements, on the sides architectural landscapes with a wanderer between trees. The depictions are framed by bandwork and curled tendrils. H. 11.5 cm The depiction of the Prussian eagle, which does not even give way to the sun, refers to the motto of Frederick William I ''Non soli cedit'' (''He himself does not give way to the sun''). This motto is to be understood against the background of the conflicts with the French King Louis XIV, the so-called Sun King. The motif therefore indicates that the object was created in 1742 or in the period after - i.e. after the end of the First Silesian War, as a result of which Silesia fell to Prussia.
