Seltene Karte des europäischen Russlands ("Moscovie") aus dem Verlag des Pariser Geographen Pierre Duval. Der Titel steht am unteren Rand. Dargestellt ist das Gebiet von Nowaja Semlja im Norden bis Astrachan im Süden. Im Westen reicht die Karte bis zur östlichen Ostsee mit Finnland und dem Baltikum. Die Grenzen sind zeitgenössisch koloriert. Pierre Duval (1618/19-1683) stammte aus Abbeville und war Neffe und Schüler des Kartographen Nicolas Sanson. Er wurde "Géographe ordinaire du Roy" und arbeitete als Kartenverleger in Paris. Duval gab zahlreiche Karten und geographische Werke heraus . Die Karte folgt der Tradition der Sanson-Schule. The map shows the area from Novaya Zemlya in the north to Astrakhan in the south. To the west, it extends to the eastern Baltic Sea, including Finland and the Baltic states. The borders are coloured in a contemporary hand. Pierre Duval (1618/19-1683) was born in Abbeville and was the nephew and pupil of the cartographer Nicolas Sanson. He became "Géographe ordinaire du Roy" and worked as a map publisher in Paris. Duval published numerous maps and geographical works. The map follows the tradition of the Sanson school.
