This coveted classic style icon is the civilian version of the military chronograph of the same name. It was designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the founder of the Porsche Design Studio which he established in 1972. Soon afterwards he launched the "Chronograph I" in cooperation with the watch brand Orfina. Later the Porsche watches were produced with IWC Schaffhausen and Eterna in Grenchen. The dial is styled like a tachometer, inspired by the instrumentation of a sports car, and complemented by a striking red sweep seconds hand. It was the world’s first wristwatch to feature a highly durable, matt-black PVD coating. Celebrities such as Formula One World Champion Mario Andretti wore this classic timepiece in the 1970s, and today the watch is highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Case: very good.
