Guinand - Full Calendar Chronograph (*) An attractive vintage Geneva wrist chronograph with full calendar and moon phase Cal. Valjoux 88, Dimensions 38 mm, circa 1960, Origin Schweiz Case: 18 K gold, push back. Dial: Silvered. Movm.: Manual. This Full Calendar Chronograph, housed in an 18-carat gold case, features rectangular chronograph pushers and two correctors on the left-hand side for setting the months and the pointer date in conjunction with the moon phase. Below the applied "12" are two windows for the day and the month, both in French. There is also a black tachymeter scale on the outer edge of the dial. The dial has darkened slightly and displays a beautiful patina. The Guinand company was founded in 1865 in Les Brenets in the Canton of Neuchâtel. By the turn of the century, its production range already included a complete series of complicated watches. Around 1900, Leon Guinand made a name for himself in professional circles with the development of a new tachymeter chronograph. As early as 1910, the company began switching production from pocket watches to wristwatch chronographs. Step by step, a range of complicated wristwatch chronographs was developed. In addition, products for specialised applications continued to be developed, such as the "de compteur à retour" model – a stopwatch with a zero-reset function whilst in flight – and a new "Compteur-rattrapante". In the 1990s the brand was taken over by Helmut Sinn in Frankfurt, a pioneer in the development of aviation watches. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movm.: very good, capable of running, cleaning recommended.
